When you feel like you’re the only one

Download | Listen on Mobile

  • Part of my story is I didn’t know what to do next either.
  • It makes you feel a little crazy.
  • We’re naive to expect them to get it.
  • We’ve numbed ourselves.
  • All of this comfort usually leads us to a state of numbness and comfort.
  • The more we have the less we see the invisible.
  • It is a fight to want an invisible God and the things He wants.
  • We will continue to feel this way even after we realize there is more to life.
  • There is not an arrival point but there are moments where God gets very real.
  • We’re going to keep needing to be woken up.
  • Inside each of us even if we’ve tried to quiet it, we are hungry for more.
  • We have to be brave with where we are.
  • It’s contagious to be honest with other people.
  • 1 Corinthians 1:18 “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.”
  • Why is it a good place to be when we’re in a desperate place.
  • It’s beautiful when we go against the flow of normal.
  • We’re all wanting to be woken up.

I appreciated your energy here, so much. And what you said about where it’s hardest to surrender and do Anything He calls us to do…how it’s in the home with our spouses…that makes so much sense, because of this worry of how it’ll affect what we have. I think of the honest truth my groom shares with me of why he doesn’t want a second child and how that could affect our relationship or our rhythm. It’s a hard truth and one God appreciates for the honesty. Yet, it hurts and also brings me to my knees at the same time.

Jennie-
Wow! Thank you speaking these words in God’s perfect timing. These have been my cries as we are starting over in a new city and a new culture. I have been missing having like-minded people chasing hard after God, but at the same time knowing God has us here (jackson) for a purpose. I feel He is also reminding me to not ever become prideful and reminds me that 5 yrs ago, I to sat ‘happy’ in my ‘christian’ world not truly knowing who Jesus is and who He calls us to be and do.

Loving the verse you mentioned in 1 Cor. I have gotten some crazy looks when we talk about who we are and our driving force (even to christians), but God will move and shake up the hearts of this town, the way He did all of us in austin 5 yrs ago!

Love you friend!

Oh sweet friend-
This spoke to me and comforted me deeply today. God knew I needed to listen to the show today in His perfect time.
Thank you for articulating with words some of the groans of my heart.
Even though I was not hearing you in person…your voice was like a familiar hug to my soul.
Ndagukunda.
I love you.

Jennie! I love this. Especially the bullet point “It’s contagious to be honest with other people.” God is speaking to my heart in honesty. Not that I need to be MORE honest, but to continue to be honest with people in hopes that I will help others know that they are not alone. Honesty is beautiful when done right.
